Eight Months

The twins turned 8 months old on March 3. They are spending a lot of time on their tummies getting ready to crawl. Jack has even started using an army crawl to move himself around. Another highlight of this month was getting doc bands. Since they were twins, they didn't have very much space during the pregnancy. This can cause a condition known as torticollis, in which their neck muscles are tight. The tightness in the neck causes them to favor certain positions, which in turn can affect their head shape. The doc band is worn 23 hours a day for 10-12 weeks to help reshape their heads. We were lucky enough to find a great place called Vinyl Touch Graphics to decorate the doc bands for us for free.

Seven Months

The twins turned 7 months old on February 3. They are both sitting on their own and love seeing their world from this new point of view. They love to play together and have developed the cutest little personalities. The highlight this month was their first swimming lessons. Enjoy the pictures. :)

Six Months

The twins turned six months old on January 3. I can't believe they are halfway to their first birthday. It is crazy how fast it goes. I feel so blessed to have been able to spend this first year at home with them. Today was their six month appointment with the pediatrician. Both babies continue to be healthy and happy. They are both rolling over in both directions. They are also getting closer to sitting on their own each day. They love to sit across with each other with the boppy pillows for support and play together. They always seem to want the toy that the other has. :) It is so much fun to watch them learn and grow.

Six month stats:
Erin: 16 pounds, 14 ounces
Jack: 18 pounds, 1 ounce

Five Months

The twins turned five months old on December 3. They are continuing to grow and develop little personalities. They have tried many new vegetables, including green beans, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes and squash, and love them all! These babies love to eat. :) They still love the exersaucer and jumperoo and are close to sitting up on their own. Jack has rolled from back to belly and it is the first thing he does when you lay him down. Erin is very close, but can't figure out what to do with her bottom arm. They are the happiest babies, always smiling and laughing. We are looking forward to all of our first Christmas celebrations at the end of the month with our little family of four. Merry Christmas to all. I will be sure to post pictures after the new year.

Four months

The twins were four months old on November 3. We had a four month appointment with the pediatrician and were pleased to know that both babies are doing just great. We got the okay to start solids this month. With each day, they are getting better at eating cereal. Next, we will try vegetables and fruit. It is so much fun to watch them learn and experience new things. They love sitting and standing so the exersaucer and jumperoo have quickly become their favorite toys. They smile all of the time and are close to having some belly laughs. We are enjoying every minute with them and are looking forward to celebrating the upcoming holidays as a family of four.

Four month stats:
Erin: 13 pounds, 15.5 ounces
Jack: 15 pounds, 7.5 ounces

Fall Fun

Fall was full of several fun events for the family. Erin and I had our first girl's weekend away from daddy and Jack. We went to Dubuque with my college friend, Liz, to visit another college friend, Robyn, and her family. Erin was a great traveler and enjoyed getting to know Liz, Robyn and Robyn's adorable kids. A trip to Dubuque would not be complete without a picture by the Clarke sign for grandma and the Loras sign for mommy. I think we may have a future Duhawk in our family. :)

This one is for grandma.

We also had a trip to the Pumpkin Patch with cousin, Maggie. We are looking forward to making this an annual trip. Hopefully Erin will be happier next year.

The twins celebrated Halloween by visiting the grandparents and great-grandparents in costume. I also took them to my school for the Halloween parade. It was a little much for them this year, but they still looked cute in their costumes. A big thanks to my mom for making them.
Happy Halloween from Thing 1 and Thing 2.
